REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Conference registration includes attendance at the following sessions: keynote speaker addresses, plenary sessions, the SIO International Congress session, concurrent breakout sessions, breakfast, and refreshment breaks each day, two lunches, optional morning wellness sessions, poster and exhibit sessions, and various networking opportunities. SIO's 20th Anniversary Celebration Event, held off-site at the Banff Gondola, is NOT included with registration but can be added for an additional fee. All prices listed are $USD.

  1. Registrations are being accepted up to the start date of the Conference. We recommend booking early.

  2. Current registrants can email the conference management team (john@funnel.ca) on or before August 15, 2023, to modify registration from virtual to in-person (or vice versa). Additional fees will be incurred (or refunded) pending change. Please note there is no switching after August 15.

  3. If you are already registered and wish to add the Gondola Gala to your registration ($70 per ticket), you can do so (while supplies last) by emailing the conference management team (john@funnel.ca).

An informal social at the Rose and Crown Pub is open to trainees, first-time SIO attendees, and patient advocates. This space is booked on a pay-on-your-own drinks and food structure. The evening will include games and prizes! We ask those planning to attend to RSVP by emailing Haley Mather and Julie Deleemans.

Optional Forest Bathing Walk

Forest Bathing (Shinrin Yoku ), is used extensively in the Japanese wellness system. Research shows that time in nature reduces stress, and anxiety, and will increase focus, creativity, and overall well-being. This Forest Bathing walk offers an opportunity to connect with yourself and others and experience the nourishing beauty of nature in Banff. All abilities and fitness levels are welcome. Optional Theatre Performance of “every.single.one”
5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

“every.single.one” is a performance by intermedia artist, Professor Cherie Sampson that depicts personal, familial, and community narratives with hereditary cancer while exploring topics of genetics, integrative oncology, and healing from a patient’s perspective of modern medicine. The performance incorporates video and soundscape (from documentary material collected by Sampson while undergoing cancer treatment), spoken word and expressive movement, informed by the artist’s 14-year practice of a South Indian classical dance form. The performance script was a 2023 Finalist for the Jane Chambers Award in playwriting by women narrating women’s experiences. Space is limited for this activity and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre-registration is required.

SIO’s 20th Anniversary Celebration at the Banff Gondola

Come celebrate SIO's 20th Anniversary at the Banff Gondola! Discover sweeping scenes of six mountain ranges, the Bow Valley, and the charming town of Banff from the Sulphur Mountain summit.  Attendees will be bused to and from the Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity and the Banff Gondola to enjoy majestic views, dinner, and time to connect and celebrate with others. Space is limited for this activity and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre-registration and payment are required. A spouse/companion ticket can be purchased with your registration.

HEALTH INFORMATION

Health Coverage and Insurance

It is recommended that all attendees from outside of Canada investigate health coverage options with your preferred supplier. You can often do this when purchasing flights.

COVID Protocols

All local protocols in Alberta, Canada, will be followed. It is recommended all attendees be fully vaccinated. Please note there is no mask mandate. However:

  • Anyone with respiratory symptoms in the previous 10 days should wear a mask indoors with other people.

  • Individuals at higher risk for severe outcomes from respiratory illness (for example, people who are immunocompromised) may want to wear a mask while indoors with others.

Domestic travel

  • Proof of vaccination and wearing masks are no longer required to travel on planes or trains in Canada.

  • Wearing high-quality masks while in transit is still recommended.

International travel

  • Effective October 1, 2022, the Government of Canada removed all COVID-19 border measures, including proof of vaccination, testing, quarantine, isolation and use of the ArriveCAN app.

  • Other jurisdictions may continue to have travel restrictions. Travellers should check to see if travel measures are in effect for their destination.

International arrivals

  • All travellers can return or travel to Canada from an international location, regardless of vaccination status. No pre-entry or arrival COVID-19 tests are required.
